I closed my eyes

I galloped across galaxies

And sprinkled stardust

from my pockets

Twinkle twinkle little star

I had always wondered

What you are

Up above the world so high,

I had found the rest of the rainbow

I’ve seen red orange yellow sunrises

And pinkish lavender sunsets

But never the dark purple that envelopes

you in its detailed darkness

And the midnight blue that lulls

me to sleep in your sedating blanket

But how was I to sleep

With all these diamonds in the sky?

I pulled a star closer

and used its gas to keep me warm

Its light lit up your dark purple

and I thought to enlighten myself

So I grabbed more stars

And built the constellation to my curves

I shot through space with my Orion

And swam through nebulas for the Milky Way

I hunted down its path

And I hoped that one day

Within a million years

My light would streak across Earth’s night

And it would make a scientist’s wish come true

Twinkle twinkle little star

Do you wonder what you are?

I opened my eyes
