True Blindness

"an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind"

but is this such a terrible fate?

if we were blind

imagine all the hidden things we would see

without the terrible blindfold of vision

of the seven-second judgement that plagues our senses

what new beauty would we discover in

the darkness that would surround us?

if prettiness was a handshake

if attractiveness was found in personal pheromones

if people fell in love with the sound of a voice

how many more smiles would we give

if their instant affection was bestowed ignorant of

age

gender

ethnicity

skin colour?

for our true blindness

is from the lenses of prejudice forced on us by our abacinated history

if we close our deceitful eyes to it all

we can see the true beauty of the world
