naked under a juniper tree
bareboned and rigid like the rocky mountains afar
feeding on the old mulch
blind and dirty
burnished hazel protuberant eyeballs dumb as marbles
dialeted as the full moon
reflect the sad old bhikkus last nurishing efforts
like someone scouring a mirror
the old bhikku reappears
five years later
recognizes there is now a second tree
just as rigid and blind as before
