Trapped

Location

Racing into the night,

heart pounding with vengent fright.

Nostrils flaring,

eyes round with quivering fear.

How does anyone get out of here?

Wooden bars staked in the ground,

constant running around and around.

Trapped in one place,

the smell of the beast burned into the mind.

Wondering why you're being confined?

Whips, ropes, and smelly harnesses embrace you,

they tame, break and, pain you before subdue.

You're broken and contained,

your spirit destroyed your freedom taken away.

Is this the price that entertainment and joy pay?
