Thou Shalt Not
It sickens me to know that this is what we’ve come to be:
Ignorant, dependent, selfish, and greedy.
We thrive on the things that poison our minds
And we’re too blind to see how far we’ve been dragged behind.
What we’ve once called luxuries have turned into necessities;
Our tainted media now runs our society;
Religion is a joke when we’re proud to be sinners;
We can’t be so holy when our morals are seen as splinters.
I won’t be like you,
I won’t let you change me,
I’m better than what you expect me to be.
I won’t be your puppet
To control as you wish;
I won’t be consumed by arrogant selfishness.
We blame our past for what we’ve become,
Tucking away what can be overcome.
I try to pass it off with an upside down frown
But in the end, I know we’re all going down.
Oblivious?
Yes, but I know you see it,
And when you’re on the last chapter
I hope it was worth it-
To hurt the innocents who would take your place
And then leave them be without a trace;
Leave them to clean up your mess,
Leave them to suffer in distress,
Leave them to believe what is not true,
Leave them to become just like you.
