These Lips

So you want to know what I’m thinking

As I sit in this corner on a sunny day

But these lips are sealed so why bother

It’s for the protection of you and not me

These lips are poison not for you but me

They sure can tell a tale, with a smile or a frown

Building and breaking this soul of mine

There’s no need to share these thoughts of mine

These evil serpents that bind me to my fears

So don’t try to save me as I sit here with a smile on this sunny day

I’m fine can’t you see, a sliver of shine trickles down

So let me continue and keep these lips sealed
