the theatre kid who will not give up.

quaking all alone at night

she wants to be the girl in lights

the rest of the world tells her no

and with that, away her hopes and dreams go.

as the time passes, she decides to try,

“stand up, get better, and one day i’ll fly.”

she trains, she studies, so one day they’ll see

the entire world will be looking at me.

with years of work, success comes her way.

awards, opportunities, and leads in her play,

but her biggest challenges are still to come.

what will this lead her to one day become?

college auditions are looming ahead.

she prepares and rehearses, but she’s still filled with dread.

her nerves overcome her, she shakes and she cries,

she takes a deep breath, and still she tries

many years later, she looks back and sighs,

“the nerves in my head were nothing but lies.”

she took a deep breath and let go of her fears,

and with that got happiness for the rest of her years.
