That's What I Did

When someone tells you, you look great, don’t be flattered.

I never am.

It just means you looked bad yesterday.

When you win a writing competition don’t let it go to your head.

Cause I did.

And now everyone tells me I suck.

When someone tells you that you’re awful at basketball and they sit you on the bench the whole game,

Shove it in their face and make varsity as a freshman.

That’s what I did.

When you’re the lead of your schools musical don’t pursue music

Cause I wanted to,

And now I can’t and won’t sing

When you beat all your cocky guy friends on the slopes don’t just do it once,

I didn’t.

I beat them five times.

When some low life stuck in the 60’s tells you girls shouldn’t play sports don’t listen to him,

Cause I didn’t.

Just pull up and shoot a three in his face.

When your mom doesn’t tell you she loves you, don’t settle for that

I didn’t and I never will.

Just keep telling her that you love her, she will eventually cave.

When you tell your best friend a deep secret don’t trust her,

Cause I did.

And now the whole school knows.

When someone explains to you that brutal honesty is hurtful, don’t listen

I don’t.

Because, one day, you’re going to want to hear that brutal honesty.

When someone puts your dream down and tells you that you can’t achieve it, ignore them.

That’s what I did
