A Tale by Aesop
Location
The people praise the able hare the most.
Through the boundless, towering trees he goes,
Prancing and leaping proud, he gives a boast!
“My lead, dear tortoise, you will never close!”
Lookers-on applaud his zeal, his panache!
“He'd make a grand executive,” says one,
Oh, yes! And when time comes for a great clash,
He would be the one to get the job done.
They look on, amazed by his might and strength.
Like Zeus' bolt, with speed he jumps and flies,
The force of great Poseidon runs the length
Of his strained joints. Of course, after lies
The tortoise, who, although behind dos’t fall,
Is the one who wins the race after all.
