Taking Back the Hands of Time

Location

Standing there with tears streaming down my face,

Her heartbeat steadily faded away.

Oh, time, do you not care? Don’t you delay?

How you rush to take her out of this place.

Questions rise as we ask why God, oh why,

Must you take our loved ones we hold so dear?

Her breath became faint, her lungs ceased to endure.

Pain welled up with fear, as moments flashed by.

Moments were seconds, memories were kept.

What seemed like hope, was traded for darkness.

All seemed to shatter, tumbling lightless;

Despair filled with hurt pained me and I wept.

Miss her how I may, I know I will see

Her beaming with joy, as we embrace warmly.
