superfather

i remember it all: the time you laughed and ran after the ice cream truck for me because i left my shoes inside and locked us out of the house…the time we sat in the blistering heat and you tried to teach me how to play guitar…the time i was utterly convinced you had superpowers and that i was set to inherit mine at any moment.

but most of all i remember how, with that smile wiped clean off your face, you picked up your guitar and slammed the door…and this time, i noticed that your cape didn’t get stuck in the door; maybe it was never there to begin with.
