Sunset Bringing Life
Lush and leafy trees erect
Sway to the music of a fading day
Crickets one and all come out
And tune their violins to play.
Colors fade from a purpling sky
And the stars reveal their splendor bright.
Below, the earth sinks to gentler tones
Letting out their inner light.
A respite gained from chaos of day
Comes to all the nonhuman life in their turn.
And as an onlooker, so do I receive
For the tune of the night a chance to learn.
I take my leave and let it go,
The creatures and plants don't miss me though.
My absence doesn't make a hole
But completes a life I'll never know.
