Sunset

Sunsets are filled with laughter & beauty.

The music of summer plays until dawn.

Have fun for three months, what a duty.

Ms.. Burgeu, next door, is the definition of moody

Because she hates when anyone is on her lawn.

Sunsets are filled with laughter & beauty.

Each night we would eat the food that was so fruity

As we snuck in Mr. Burgeu's yard when her curtains were drawn.

Have fun for three months, what a duty.

On that lawn, my childhood memories never felt empty.

She always found evidence of us after we had gone.

Sunsets are filled with laughter & beauty.

Even though all our schemes were unbelieveably crafty,

After awhile, Ms. Burgeu just gave us a yawn.

Have fun for three months, what a duty.

On tonight's sunset, Ms. Burgeu has died at the age of ninety.

And we will come to miss that personality of a prawn.

Sunsets are filled with laughter & beauty.

Have fun for three months, what a duty.

This is a beautiful poem. I love the rhyming scheme and the use of the ending phrases as a repetition. I was moved! Good Job!
