The Summer of Goodbyes

Location

The summer begins, fresh taste on my tongue.

New shoes on my feet, hair blowing in the wind.

New girls, new boys, fresh heart, trust.

Walking by the beach, talking by the docks.

My heart starts longing to see him.

Abandoned house, cool breeze, warm arms.

Innocence escapes, before I can breathe.

Long nights, cuddling, whispers of devotion.

But does love ever last?

Painful goodbye, long ride home.

The remains of my heart drag behind me.

Packing up, leaving home, not looking back.

Does he even remember my name?

I'm stronger now, I'm happier now.

The goodbye of summer has no hold on me.

Autumn begins, fresh taste on my tongue.
