A Stranger So Potent In Power

Many lives at risk

Drowned or cut

Screaming their agonies

Washing away any sound of light

Of hope

His power potent and inviting

Drawing you in with his voice

His call so alluring

So deep

You know of the dangers

Of the fates of the ones before you

Yet you follow him

You can’t help but love him

Care for him, know him

He feels like a dream

Or a friend

He feels close, like comfort

Like a hand you can hold when you’re upset

He feels so familiar

A spark in that cold night

A light in that oh-so-sudden darkness

You close your eyes

Imagining a warm embrace

Hoping to hide from him

Get away from all that power and danger

And you feel that embrace

Your body heating up in an instance

It’s warm and calm and you relax

Relax in that embrace

It feels normal

It seems to last forever

And you finally feel happy

But you open your eyes and it’s him

He who hurt you, he who looked down on you

But you still embrace him

As his power is yours, and you are his power
