I saw him once in my entire life,
I was nine,
I still remember how he looked like,
Nothing like how I imagined,
Wearing an old navy blue cap,
The smell of dirt and oil rubbed off him,
I still can’t believe my mom married him,
He tried to get to know me,
Or at least I thought he did,
He just nagged on about how he “missed us,”
But I know he was lying,
He remembers our birthdays,
Since he was there when we were born,
But yet he did not send us anything,
No money, no toys, no nothing,
But it’s okay though,
The day you left us when I was one,
Another man came in,
And became the definition of what I call a father .
