A Storm Within Her Eyes - (Vilanelle)

There’s a silence in her voice, and there’s a storm within her eyes,

She’s been loved and she’s been lost amongst the bruising of her heart.

Even her shadow leaves her in the darkness, and she’s always left behind.

You can see it in her eyes, the hearts she holds before her smile,

And you can hear it in the words she speaks, that her world has been torn apart.

There’s a silence in her voice, and there’s a storm within her eyes.

You see, she’s the type that loves too much, with her heart out on the line,

Only to have it fractured; broken in pieces from the start.

Even her shadow leaves her in the darkness, and she’s always left behind.

The storm within her eyes brings rain, so she’s too afraid to fly,

In fear that she might crash or lose herself and fly too far.

There’s a silence in her voice and there’s a storm within her eyes.

Her thoughts are shards of glass that cut her deeper with each goodbye.

They’ve made their way into her soul and pierced her like a dart.

Even her shadow leaves her in the darkness and she’s always left behind.

But there’s no sense soaking cloth in water in attempt to keep it dry,

And there’s no sense wasting hope when every day just breaks your heart.

There’s a silence in her voice, and there’s a storm within her eyes,

Even her shadow leaves her in the darkness, and she’s always left behind.
