Staying Up 'til Sunrise
The morning sun rises peacefully
and the birds begin to play.
The soft glow of pink and red turns
to orange, beginning a new day.
The world sounds still…
I think to myself, just for a second,
how lucky I am to be blessed
with life on this beautiful spinning planet,
with soft clouds and shimmering green grass and —
A lone white flower I’ve spotted seems to have somehow grown
in the stillness with nothing but nature surrounding it.
Completely on its own.
I stand silently now in the middle of it all
an observer
a third party
and like a young lady
showing off a dress worn for the first time
I watch the world twirl for me.
As she displays for me, all her glory
I dare not move or touch a thing
that would disturb
this beautiful awakening.
But its time I got some sleep, and the
unfortunate thought of forsaking the lady,
and the moment I’ve discovered myself a part of,
is certainly one that I dread
but nevertheless I shuffle off to bed,
grateful to dream of the wonderful lady
that is the picture of the world
now, forever in my head.
