Star Trade
Once, we bartered every star,
Poached their paper light
And wrenched from Heaven those weighty gems
For want of better sight.
Silent cries reverberated
'Round the threadbare sky -
Crescendos raw on tattered lips,
Requims of ragged sighs -
As we smothered every star
And wrought the night's demise.
