The Spirit Guide(s)

A girl, raised to have the mindset of creative liberty,

bred with the blood of Indians and the spirit of Mother

left to wonder the world;

 mind flaring with ideas, corrections

Aimlessly guided by the shadows brought into her life

Unfortunately-

she took some time to break down what she knew was inside

but in her mind, she knew it was time.

You see,

That girl I knew had chances, opportunities

 to find that light she knew she couldn’t hide;

For the seams she had sewn couldn’t sow a destiny for much longer-

it beat with her, the thump of her valves in sync with the soul she hasn’t uncovered

it hovered over her mind, yet unlike wine it hadn’t aged with time;

she felt the pull of her roots, mocking her of her line-

of the disappointment she was bound to unwind.

However this girl had noticed that her words caused sparks;

her wisdom gained through lives well spent with Mother

was something far greater than the fate predetermined for her;

she knew that in those roots was a new destiny waiting to be

 discovered by hands who knew what it meant to be unearthed.

That's when she knew a legacy was waiting to be written,

one that would quell the soul longing to bust free

That’s when I knew, that girl is me.
