College

is being at work all day 

coming home

and having to wrangle your kids

to all their different clubs

and finding time to o 

the mounds of paperwork 

dumped on you by your multiple bosses

except you don't get to choose

what you have for dinner, not really

and a social life

requires you to put time and money,

neither of which you have,

into people who will probably

be your life-long friends

no pressure.

just choose wisely.

 

College is an everyday party

that you have to fight 

to get away from long enough

to do your work

it is thinking higly of your accomplishments

only to be told that 

you'll need to do a lot more

to actually get a job that you can be proud of

one day

College is about finding 

your soul mate,

or maybe not

but learning to love anyway

even when you know too much

about them

College is about exploring

the world around you at midnight

when the world is closed

but your schedule is finally open

college is making tough choices

because plenty of people 

could make them for you

but that isn't in thier job description

college is the removal of fear

of being yourself

of saying yes to everything

of saying no the second time

of becoming fully human

College is spectacular

until finals week.
