Sounds Of Loneliness

You never realize how lonely you are

Until you begin to notice the sounds you didn’t before.

Like the fan swishing air around—it’s tiny shaking causing a clicking of it’s cords.
Like the creaking of the house and the crickets out the window.
Like your breathing—now each breath you think about.
Like the beating of your heart pounding against your chest.

What a terrible time to realize just how alone you really are.
