Sometimes I think...

Location

Sometimes I think…

Think about the trees,

How they point toward heaven

Through summer heat, winter rain

Willing to lose every precious leaf.

Sometimes I wonder

Why they stand so tall

And my shoulders sag

Sometimes I think…

I think about mountains

How they tower with strength

They halt the clouds, break the sky

Standing unaffected by vicious storms.

Sometimes I wonder

How they are so strong

And mine eyes are wet

Sometimes I think…

I think about the children

How they laugh and play

They giggle, tease, and unconditionally love

Always naïve and innocent.

Sometimes I wonder

How they are so pure

And I cower with shame

Sometimes I think

I think about the lovers

How they smile and kiss

They forgive, protect, trust

Willing to give each other all.

Sometimes I wonder

How they are so enamored

And my heart hardens

Sometimes I think…

I think about the dreamers

How they ignore the drag of fact

Despite the skeptics, the science

They look toward the unknown.

Sometimes I wonder

How they are so hopeful

And I doubt

Sometimes I think

I think about life

How it is change

From gaiety, to woe and back again

Never allowing total peace.

Sometimes I wonder

And I follow along

Sometimes I think

I think about me

How I am quiet and pensive

I hate, I love, and I am vulnerable

Always fighting myself.

Sometimes I wonder

What lies ahead

And I think too much.
