Society Decides

Sun, 02/07/2016 - 20:15 -- Dukes

I do the same thing every morning.
Wake up, get ready, leave, arrive with a slump.
I see kids, and hear ‘em speak of this place a drag.
It’s known as a place for kids to be “forming”.

Yes. It’s true school can be too much and seems unimportant.
It’s a place where we run away from problems.
It’s a normal mandatory role of fate.
It’s the way kids “find” their way through their autumns.

School a way for kids to stay out of trouble,
well that’s what their parents say.
Everyday kids hate the place,
they just say, “Nah.” and they go to make ‘emselves befuddle.

See what seems to form our kids in society today,
it’s not the schools, n’or parents, but it’s media.
It’s our everything now and days,
it’s our encyclopedia.

I mean where do you see our role models.
On T.V. as we sit as a child and think, ‘That’ll be me.’
Let’s be for real though at what percentage will that happen?
Our life needs to be taken apart into novels.

So what does society want from us?
And our parents, teachers, and peers? What about them?
It’s like all they want to do is direct,
or even better yet; condemn.

So let me ask. Who are we benefiting and pleasing when we go to school?
If we don’t please ourselves, then we are not benefitin’.
We feel like we ain’t important,
like we’ll never be more than a tool.
