Sloth
Coils of cold yellow green rope
Lying heavy, hold her still
Half-sleeping eyes lacking hope
Betray her total loss of will.
Apathy upon her lies,
Slowing movement, pressing down,
As the sweat on her skin dries,
In open air, you watch her drown.
Without a care, nor wish for more,
She near-unconscious lingers on,
As the years around her pour,
She watches all with half a yawn.
Yearns for purpose, denying strife,
Lacking interest, lacking life.
