Skinwalker

How to drop your body off
behind a dumpster and transform
into a bird, eyes fluttering with eye shadow
beak puckered with lipstick
Fly into a club and look beautiful
Go to the bathroom and transform
into a bear, chest flat and palms grizzly
face a mask of quiet anger
Go home for the night and pick up your body
again, uncomfortable, ill-fitting, too tight
too much chest cavity
and big eyes
and human hands
and too much open question
Go home and be your body
Not the bird or the bear
or any number of things you want to be
Be skin and breasts and smooth
Instead of feathered or furred or flat
Be open with heart pinned to chest
Be open with chest
