Silent Summer’s Empty Nights

The Lonely Child waits by her window

for the blank sky

and lank clouds

in the silent summer’s empty night.

Silent summers.

Empty nights.

Silent,

Empty,

Cold.

The Lonely Child waits by the door

for the headlights in the dark

and the escape always near

in the silent summer’s empty night.

Silent,

Empty,

Cold.

The Lonely Child sits

on the edge of a building high

and wait for the one always hidden,

the answer unclear

in the silent summer’s empty nights.

Silent,

Empty,

Cold.

The Lonely Child is found, unmoving in the street,

silent,

empty,

cold.
