Sh*t I CAN Say to My Teacher

My teacher cured my depression.

She taught me ways to stop aggression.

She’s the one who encouraged me to write –

Told me pen on paper was the light.

Don’t write your story with a knife on your wrist.

Write it in a notebook with a twist.

Turn your story into inspiration.

Help the youth of this new nation.

Never give up. Hold fast to what you know.

Learn new things, and always leave room to grow.

She pulled me out of my vortex of despair,

Taught me to live, write, and teach with a flair.

She convinced me I could do anything,

Told me that words weren’t meant to sting.

Words are the panacea for pain.

May we never use them for our selfish gain.

Life isn’t for planning, but for living.

There is always more that you can be giving.

I want to be the teacher kids can talk to –

Who helps you become someone new.

May I be the one who listens,

Who loves you ‘til your worldview glistens.

I want to be just like my teacher in the end–

A teacher, a savior, a friend.
