Shadows in the Dark
Location
In the early evening, I come home from the park.
And inside my house there are shadows in the dark!
The shadows are silent but easy to see.
I start to wonder what they will do to me.
I hold in my scream but feel frozen with fear
To my deep relief, I know a lamp is near.
I begin to tip-toe; cautiously alert.
My heart is now pounding, my legs feel inert.
I continue creeping, making no sound at all.
Then, out nowhere, I get hit by a ball!
Sweating and terrified, gasping some air,
the back of my neck has standing up hairs.
I feel so cold as my anxious eyes jump.
My skin gets tight as I grow goosebumps.
I am now a prisoner (of my own fear).
I back up to the wall-and the lamp is right here!
That's when I frantically turn the light on quick.
They scream, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!", but I just feel sick.
