I walk up to the front of the classroom and
hand in my final exam and
I walk through the dirt parking lot,
a brown pit of muck from yesterday’s rain, for the last time
I approach my car and I realize
that it’s all over. This semester
I pull out of the parking lot in a daze, almost numb.
I should be on top of the world, like the song I’m listening to says, but
I have been waiting for this moment since I started
but now that it’s over
I don’t know what to think.
But now that it’s over,
now that this semester
I am going to accept what it was
and embrace what is to come.
