Seasons
The fall was harsh, the winter was bitter.
A frozen field failed to yield spring life
except for one flower. It was no quitter.
It pushed and pounded on the ice in strife
Alas, the bud could not break out alive
In the distance, a bird saw its fight.
The bird’s quick beak and swooping dive
Cracked the ice and gave the flower light
Growing stronger as the summer came
The flower bloomed brighter than before
The bird took fondness: gave it a name
Well, it must be clever; how about Amor?
A springtime friend dried my tears
A summertime whirlwind held my hands
An autumn time connection kissed my
body in a way that turned self-deprecation into adoration
A life-long partner loved me through the
cold, dark winter; warmer together
