sea of love

"I have sea foam in my veins

I understand the language of waves"

it's so fortunate:

You're the eye of the storm

& I won't ever board up my windows,

you've got me upside down and inside out

I fear my heels

won't ever not neighbor my head.

You always say it's so hard

to show me what's in your heart;

windows on washing machines in laundromats

exist so I can't say the same.

My insides did systematic somersaults all summer,

This winter I'm getting used to whirlpools

& I have no intentions of swimming to shore.

Isn't that apparent when I beg "more?"

You're the raft and the sea,

you've equally got a hold on me.

Knuckle to knuckle

so I'll never slip through like sand

As long as I have you hand

what else was mine made for?

I've been falling all over myself,

it's the sealegs,

made for your hands

just as much for walking

but I don't care unless it's to you.
