Running from fear,
Running from the past.
One moment, a lifetime, is spent here;
The next, he is gone at last.
Running from life.
Running from pain.
Running from strife.
He just wants to be home again.
Dozens of sneakers he has worn;
Each time his heart breaks, they are torn.
Thousands of times he has lapped the track.
Thousands of times...too afraid to look back.

Since this poem is about running, I thought it was really interesting that you chose to make each line only a few words long, because it made it seem like poem was moving very quickly and stopping at short intervals just like a person would, which is a very nice effect! If you like writing small poems that have big stories, you might want to check out tips for writing haikus under "poetry writing tips" in the "resources" section of the site!
