Remember Us?

Location

Freshman year you bought my lunch

You’d think that would give me a hunch

Two years later we became best friends

No one dreamt it would ever end

Closer and closer, as if planned

3 months later “May I hold your hand?”

Fireworks and countdowns filled the air

You whispered be mine with such flair

A year and a half filled with great memories

Falling asleep kissing, up-all-nighters, and journeys

Cloudy eyes and wishful goodbyes

All a memory cast away by lies

We should have took the time to talk

But instead you decided to just walk

“I’m not sure if it’s love, I need a break”

Those last words created such ache

Best friends we will always be?

Psh two weeks later I was dead to thee

No closure as to what changed

Possibly a plot had been arranged?

Who knows what could have been if we discussed

Truth and happiness, not disgust

I miss you terribly without end

You were my one and truest friend

Please be smart and see the new “you”

Your whole entire life has gone askew

As the muscles grew so did your head

Friends and homework? Nah gym instead

Now your friends are gone and your classes failed

Wake up now before you’re jailed

I worry and think about you all the time

And miss the man who was once mine

At functions you can’t even look my way

I hope we’ll be friends again one day

I want to talk and fix it all

But you’d rather talk to the wall

I want to forget and just move on

But a year later I’m still withdrawn

I’m becoming stronger and I hate to fuss

But I need to know “do you remember us?”
