The Rage

Location

Ocean Isle Beach NC
United States

I feel them, floorboards move
        with every beat, jarring,
nearly send me skyward, launched to the moon.
Hope I can stay on this planet
        and not be a mass
orbiting the place where energy and joy become one
Shoulder to shoulder, the dance floor is packed
no room to sling a cat
But together we jive
as an inprov-styled troupe -- that is a fact
We slide, we glide, we jump and we're churnin''
        to the pulsing, vibrations,
                the hot melody burning'

Well, I found my groove when my shoes started to move
to a rhythm all of my own
Wild abandon, the movements are random,
I may have even rearranged the room
Faces smile and glow with sweat
        the room starts to spin,
oh lordie, I'm off like a jet....
Music shoots through my pores, floods my brain
        dancers move from the floor
        to witness my solo refrain
Swirl, I spin, move I'm in
I'm an asteroid searing the stage
And they view from afar, I'm a dancer, a star.
and I know beauty and art are the rage.
Content, now I'm spent
and I can't help but wonder
why it's over and where the time went.
