puppy love

there's this boy

and i love him like a letter loves it envelope

and my heart aches like too much christmas

when i see him

walking down the hall

and he

keeps

  his

    eyes

      on

        me

even when i look away

and these long strong arms

and these big warm hands

and he smells better than a good nights sleep

and oh

when he tries to keep a straight face

and cant

and that very square jaw

splinters into a smile

a very lovely smile

i am so full of wonder

at his voice and at his laugh

its so deep it fills my own belly

and his eyes are shaped like almonds that are peaceful when they're closed

and he wraps me in his arms real tight

encasing me

like an envelope cradles its letter
