What has poetry taught me?

 

Poems words are used to inspire

People to believe

People to dream

People to succeed 

 

Poetry shows the beauty 

Of the world around us

Seen and unseen

Natural and Supernatural

 

Poetry says everything

And yet it never really says anything

Each word has a meaning

Each line has a message 

 

 

 

From Frost’s “Two Roads”

To Edgar’s “The raven”

Poetry is more than words

It’s about everything in the world 

 

It’s dark

It’s light

It’s happy

And It’s sad

 

 

 

similes are like smiles

Alliteration almost always allows flow

Metaphors allow all the world to be a stage 

And symbols stand for everything 

 

 

Poetry makes me believe

Poetry makes me dream 

Poetry has helped me succeed 

Poetry is life

 

the question is simple

when you really think

About what poetry is

And what it’s does

 

Poetry has taught me everything.
