"A Pound of Flesh"

I don't want to drown in your sea of sadness.
I don't want to stand in your rain of madness.

I was a prisoner in your cave of sweet nothings.
I was frozen in your winters, in love with your springs.

Take your pound of flesh, but leave me be.
You can leave me lonely, but not unhappy.
You can't have my soul, but take my body.

I gave the seven seas, you gave a shallow pond.
You went an inch, I flew to infinity and beyond.

I was in painful pleasure, thought this was love, and never understood.
A new found strength in me now stands where you stood.

Take your pound of flesh, but leave me be.
You can leave me lonely, but not unhappy.
You can't have my soul, but take my body.

I have no need for roses, don't need your therapy.
I know addiction well, but I won't be your shot of whiskey.

Love isn't a chain, it's someone finally setting you free.
I want someone to bring out the best in me.

I'm not a flawless diamond, I'm a blooming tree.
I'm searching for someone in this world to grow with me.

Take your pound of flesh, but leave me be.
You can leave me lonely, but not unhappy.
You can't have my soul, but take my body.
