Pop

The pop.

When it materializes you go scream in fury but it makes you worry.

Because your life is a mess

And you're less than everyone else

The feeling that tears your life apart

You're no one

Fun like when you used to play outside

Basketball, baseball, kickball, all of the bad-ass games vanished in a flash

Smash your bedroom wall in great frustration because you are a disgrace

Face your fear to feel what you felt before

Lay on the ground after a long day

Now every day is a long day

Limping through life

And when you lose something you love

You are never the same

Lame you are and you lose your name

The nightmare becomes a reality

Or the greatest learning experience of your life

The pop

The pop that showed you what you took for granted

The pop that pours fight in your veins

The pop that infuriates you when you wake up screaming at night from the pain

The pop that makes you want to get that extra set, rep, to keep working because that’s all you got The pop that brings you closer to your family, but farther from your brothers

The pop that shows you that I can

And makes you believe that I will

Can make you feel like the darkness is closing in but just when it's about to strangle you the light pours in

Don’t take for granted what you got because you can lose it in

a pop.
