Peter Pan Grows Up

As a little girl who loved to dream I was told a story

Of a little boy who came to Wendy's window in the morning.

He came and whisked her away from all the things she knew.

He took her from the loneliness hiding in her room.

Her tender heart began to beat much faster than before.

For pixie dust as it would seem, unlocked her dull heart's door.

As they flew her heart swelled; they danced between the stars.

They darted between the traffic lanes of a thousand speeding cars.

Neverland! He declared as he hit the brakes.

A paradise of mountains, jungles and shimmering lakes.

Suddenly Captain Hook appears through the foggy mist.

And their great adventure began in miss Wendy's midst.

Peter Pan always won; That's how then story ends.

However, the authors ink still drips slowly from his pen.

As I grew I realized that I live this fantasy.

There is a boy called Peter Pan that has grown close to me.

But what they never told you is that Peter Pan did grow up.

And when Peter Pan grows up, his right hand grows a hook.

Pixie dust got in my eye and now I'm seeing wrong.

Suddenly this boy I knew sings a different song.

He doesn't live on this island but far out beyond the shore.

He hides in his toy boat acting different than before.

Are you Peter Pan or Captain Hook? I do not understand.

This fantasy is twisted. Are you afraid of Neverland?

Are you Peter Pan or Captain Hook? I think my visions blurry?

My pixie dust is gone. Is this a different story?

Are you Peter Pan or Captain Hook? I can't really tell.

This little boy grew up then learned to cast a spell.

You lied to me, you little boy, and played with my heart.

You told me you would never leave, when you started to depart.

Confused, my lifeless heart sits still in your metal grip.

And my body aches tied up down here, inside your wooden ship.

Are you Peter Pan or Captain hook, yes I know the story,

But I never thought that Peter Pan would grow up to desert me.

So Peter Pan, if you can hear me, your Wendy wants to know.

Will we ever dance in the stars again or this ship my home?

I hope the author didn't lie when he said Peter always wins.

But when Peter Pan grows up, that's when the new story begins.
