Perseverance

When I was Younger, my mother always told me to stand up tall;

Everyday is a struggle but I fight through it all.

With my head held high, I’ll touch the sky;

And I’ll never quit ‘til the day I die

You can say what you want about me that’s fine;

But your words won’t ever dull my shine.

You can break me down til I hit the ground;

But just like a basketball player, I will always rebound.

Even though my life has at times been rough;

All that’s done is made me tough

I’ve always fought tooth and nail;

And that’s kept me going without fail.

I can’t give up, I can’t give in;

To do so for me would be a sin.
