Perfectly Imperfect

I know what's right from wrong
I know where I belong
I know where to go
I know what not to show

They see a goody too-shoos
They see blacks and blues
They see a teacher's pet
They see a future organized and set

I know how to break free
I know colors beyond the sea
I know what I've read
I know a hungry mouth gets fed

They see a safe haven
They see a road not taken
They see caution and reservation
They see over-certification

I know how to stay alive
I know when to strive
I know when to fear and to rejoice
I know when to use my voice

In the end, we all have a choice
