The Path Taken

A simple escape,

a free therapy session,

a time of reflection,

a release of tension

One foot in front of the other

breathing in and out,

a rhythm in my head

as I run along this route.

Exploring the trails,

the mysteries they hold

appreciating the surroundings

of nature with leaves bright and bold

Cars speed by with a mist

as the nice big dog gives a little lick

coming towards the end of the run,

all I need is a little kick,

Perserverance and dedication are required

to win this self-inflicted battle

the mindset of a champion,

to choose to run a path that few may travel.
