Overslept
Location
I plunged into a deep slumber.
My spine completely relaxed,
Limp and useless.
My bones evaporate,
Leaving my body a floppy suit of skin.
Sinking deep into the mattress,
My head burrowed into the mushy pillow,
I’m not quite sure if I’m dead or alive.
I’m simply existing, taking up precious space.
Utilizing the light oxygen at a glacial pace.
I remain in this compromising state,
Leaving myself impaired for hours on end.
Five alarms attempt to stir me,
None are of assistance.
My eyes remain closed,
My mind fogged with clouds of condensation,
I wish to be forever imprisoned in the Egyptian Cotton palace.
Until, I am brought back to Earth again,
For the gruff voice of reality bellows my name.
