OUR BABY

You couldn’t get pregnant but in the moment my thoughts drifted

 about if you could

And if we might raise a child by the sea

And sail on Tuesdays with porta 400 and new ports in the distance and no newports

You could never get pregnant but in the moment I thought about how my body and yours would meet to form life

And what our baby might be like

Confident like me

And thoughtful like you

But you will never get pregnant and so in the moment I never pulled out

And I never understood that you actually saw a series of planets circling my head

And I always slept soundly

Even although you can never get pregnant

maybe some day you will raise a child

Down the road from the beach

That will bring you so much love and happiness

And you will write about your kid and about how much you love them
