Only When
People as numerous as the sand
Their clamor muted
Only when the sun melts into the water
Only when the wave crash somehow louder
than the buzzing
of cars and voices
Leaving only the soul’s thoughts to immerge to the surface
The light sings across the water
As if to hush the worry away
But then all at once
The honking
The chaos
Floods back
This poem is about:
Me
My community
My country
Our world
