One Day

Dear Me,

I know it seems like the world will end

Like you'll suddenly shrivel, or

Like the ground will open up underneath your feet

and swallow you up like a big human treat.

But one day, one glorious day

You're going to have to do it, you're going to speak your mind.

One day, one glorious day

You're going to have to try.

I know it feels like there's a colony of butterflies in your stomach,

Like there's an endless fluttering inside, or

Like your heart is beating so fast that it's about to burst

and even after it's over, you'll still feel like the worst.

But one day, one courageous day

You're going to conjure up your nerve, you're going to speak your truth.

One day, one courageous day

You'll stop wasting your precious youth.

And this day will be great,

And this day will be grand.

You'll feel like you can fly.

Why?

Because you will never know, that is

If you never even try.

From, Me
