Once Upon a Fairytale

Once upon a time
The words we all know
The stories we were told
When we started to grow
We all know Cinderella
With her shiny glass shoe
And Hansel and Gretel
Who decided to chew
We heard about Rapunzel
Her lovely long hair
As well as Snow White
Who had boys everywhere
We’ve all heard the stories
We all think we know
But what if these stories
Aren’t how the stories go?What if Cinderella
Lost her shiny glass shoe
On purpose because
The prince’s plan she knew

Maybe Hansel and Gretel
Weren’t really just greedy
Perhaps they saw the old lady
And thought she was needy
What if Rapunzel
Had not cut her hair
And was already planning
An escape from there

And maybe Snow White
With her seven dwarves
Was just helping seven aging
Old men with their *corves

Though we know not the true stories
For nothing we saw
The stories we were told
Still left us in awe

*corves are wagons used inside a mine for transporting mined coal or ore
