Once

Location

Who is she?

Captured in that rectangular moment,

Smiling,

Young,

And absolutely free.

They say I look a lot like her,

That I was once her,

And that I was still her,

Except older.

But I do not have the spirit she has,

The bravery.

I hid when Life demands Change,

Scream when Present says Future is near,

And cry when Day becomes Year.

Places to be,

Places to go,

Places that I don’t know.

I try to smile,

I try to be young,

I try to be free,

But Unknown harasses my soul,

And suppresses my body.

Maybe Future will help me become brave and free like her,

But Today says no.
