The old man

 Hello dear sir/madam,

I wish to share this poem with you above a man that was to me my dearest friend who had unrelentless courage and gave it all for his family no matter what:

The old man

He said it all with his silence and even more with his words

and liked people who where true to themselves and and tried very hard

He never stopped to think a single moment if america was the greatest nation in the world

for he had no doubt in his mind if here the genius of man hard been developed her more than anywhere else in the world

The man was slim and he was baptized "el flaco" or "the slim" in english

Slim but courageous and clever as no one else I ever saw never surrendering his freedom to the bullish

He always cared for his significant ones with all his soul and heart

so he said nothing when they turned against him and simply said something smart

Some people hated him for his unrelentless integrity and courage

yet they could not avoid wondering at his elegance and resilience

the man fought and died the way he wanted to and that was his way

I, at least, think he was brilliant, witty and had the heart of a lion defending his cubs come what may

he kept his children away from hooligans so they could learn while under his protection

but was strong and steadfast to learn them some  some respect for those who showed determination

as they say i now see myself as his predecessor and finally understand what he was trying to tell me in the living years

and I just can't forget the look in his eyes or the tears he cried

as he told me "mentira mentira los años the plassan ya no vuelven más"  meaning we only live once so live with pride and take it to victory but with consideration for those who can't help but be afraid

he never believed in fear but that fear itself is all we have to fear and that's what makes all the difference

sometimes we fear what we don't understand and give up before the struggle even starts

yes, flaco we did it our way.

My warmest regards,

Mario Fontenla.
